Vauxhall VXR8

Before you even glance at the specification of Vauxhall's VXR8 you should know that it costs about £15,000 less than most of the other cars here. That disparity in price seems at odds with the Vauxhall's 6.0-litre V8, which incidentally is sourced from the Corvette. Peak power may be the lowest, at 'just' 411bhp, but it's backed up by 407lb.ft of torque and an exhaust note to die for.

The VXR8 is really a rebadged Holden, developed in Australia to cope comfortably with long distances, and that it does. In comparison to the hot-headed Germans it's a more relaxing cruiser, though predictably not quite as sharp on a race track. However, it has oodles of space and is likely to be much less common, despite its bargain asking price.
