Ford Mustang GT500KR

It's hard to ignore the exterior styling of the new, even more extreme, version of the Ford Mustang. To the muscular GT500 body, Ford's designers have added a carbon-composite bonnet (held down by racing-style twist pins), huge 20-inch alloys (not due for production), bespoke brake cooling ducts and stripes and decals that hark back to the original 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500KR.

However, this car is more about the boosted engine under that scooped bonnet and its nod to the car that originally held the 'King of the Road' badge. It packs a supercharged 5.4-litre V8, which pushes out an incredible 540bhp to the rear wheels. Ford claims that the suspension has been upgraded to cope and somebody has decided to allow the public drive this car, as it goes into production early next year, with just 1,000 units to become available.
