Daihatsu Charade
Last, but not least in our group of five is the diminutive Daihatsu Charade. When we say diminutive, we really do mean very small. The Charade is like a small supermini that has been left in a hot wash for too long. However, so long as you don't care for load-carrying, the Charade would make an excellent first car.
Daihatsu's little wonder is cheap to buy (prices start at £6,460), cheap to fuel (Combined Cycle economy of 58.9mpg) and cheap to tax and insure thanks to its hamster-wheel of a 989cc engine.
However, other than its quirky Japanese image, we can't really see a reason why you'd buy the Daihatsu over the
Toyota Aygo; they're made by the same people these days after all. Unless, that is, you've got a super-slim parking space to get into, as the Charade is a massive 140mm narrower!
