From Russia With Love was released in 1963, but the car manufacturers had not cottoned onto the full impact of product placement at that stage so the movie seemed to feature mostly classic cars. Bond's most exciting car for instance was a sporty 4.5-litre Sports Tourer from the late '20s, while one of his pursuers rode around in the Citroen Traction Avant.

That name literally translates from French as "front-wheel drive", which may sound silly now, but in the early thirties when Citroen launched the Traction Avant this was hailed as a revolutionary technology. Still, with a 30-year old family car, he didn't really stand to catch Bond's best efforts. However, the Traction Avant actually paved the way for the creation of the iconic Citroen 2CV.
