Two Mercedes-Benz models in our top five? That should be 'just' the two, Mercedes spending most of this year restyling almost its entire line up. The CLC is one of the most convincing and dramatic makeovers. It might look like a truncated version of the new C-Class, but it's a seriously re-worked version of the old C-Class Sports Coupé. And we mean serious, the front and rear taking their styling cues from the new C-Class, only the flanks giving the CLC away as a surgeon's job on an older model.
That's not to say that it's not been an effective makeover, in fact quite the contrary. The bolder front grille, sharper bonnet and more angular front and rear lights work well with the CLC's compact hatchback stance, giving Mercedes a credible, and stylish 'new' model in the burgeoning compact premium car class.
