Cadillac Escalade

You might think that a list of heavyweights would be littered with Americana, but only the Escalade makes it onto this list with its kerb weight of 2,609kg. This enormous SUV is officially available in the UK too, unlike some of the Hummers and the like that rival it for bulk. At between £46-50,000 the Escalade is - Land Rover Discovery excepted - the cheapest car here by a long way. It's hardly surprising that the Escalade is heavy either, as although it doesn't cost house money to buy you really could live in it due to its size. That makes it a bit of a handful on UK roads.

The perfect wheels for aspiring rappers, or premier league footballers, the Escalade is completely outclassed on the road by its rivals. Unless you want presence and a statement; the thing is, what it says about you isn't exactly favourable. We'd have a Range Rover any day of the week, favouring British sophistication over American brashness.
