You don't need to put the Rolls-Royce Phantom on a weighbridge to realise that it's no lightweight - it looks heavy. Satisfyingly so though, the Phantom having a gravitas and bulk that's befitting of its status as one of the world's most impressive luxury cars. Like all the machines here the Phantom's weight is no hindrance to its ability, the 6.75-litre V12 propelling it at quite incredible pace - 62mph arrives in just 5.9 seconds. That's amazing when you consider that the Rolls-Royce Extended Wheelbase Phantom weighs 2,670kg. If you wanted to save a few kilos (around 120), you could always opt for the standard length model, which isn't exactly lacking in rear legroom.
For some though the additional 250mm makes all the difference, not least as it exhibits you've so much money that the extra £50,000 the Extended Wheelbase Phantom costs over the regular £269,500 car is inconsequential. And if you're buying the ultimate luxury car why stop at the ordinary model when there's a more expensive one on offer? Heavy indeed, but for a reason.
