Peugeot 206 CC

The Peugeot 206 CC has been at the top of the convertible sales chart in Britain for quite a while now and arguably kick-started this niche market in the first place. The only reason we've placed it fourth is due to its imminent replacement by a 207 CC, which will immediately make this car feel out of date.

Saying that, the styling of the 206 CC is still acceptably modern, if not quite as fresh as the Tigra or Colt. It manages to be sporting too, looking more like a hot hatch than most of the other cars here. Its four-seat layout obviously endeared it to buyers, though the cockpit itself is dating quickly.

Mechanically, the 206 CC impresses with a good range of engines, including an excellent 1.6-litre diesel option, but its structure is not quite as rigid as its newer competitors. Not a bad showing though for the pensioner of the group.
