Keen drivers might worry that a greener future means the fun will be removed from driving. However, if Mitsubishi has got anything to do with it they shouldn't be concerned. In Tokyo Mitsubishi will show its i MiEV Sport - a concept that promises lithium-ion battery-powered environmentally responsible motoring in an enjoyable to drive package. Powered by in-wheel electric motors in the front wheels, the rears powered by a single electric motor, the i MiEV Sport is four-wheel drive. Also part of the drivetrain is Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) vehicle dynamics system, ensuring that the i MiEV Sport delivers responsive handling.
Constructed in lightweight aluminium and Mitsubishi's own plant-based resin technology, dubbed 'green plastic' the i MiEV Sport might be a sporting focussed model but it promises to entertain on the road. Now all Mitsubishi needs to do is sort out the styling, which at best can be described as interesting, and at worst push-me-pull-me.
