Evolution MR FQ-400

When Mitsubishi launched the Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ-400 (let's call it the FQ-400, shall we?) in 2004, a hint at the car's potential was given by the inclusion in the purchase price of a driver training course... This is one of the maddest production cars produced ever.

Mitsubishi created the FQ-400 to celebrate thirty years selling cars in the UK and though the Ł46,999 price may sound a little steep, there were only 100 produced so at least it's rare. The price may be justified in plenty of other ways though. Mitsubishi Motors UK's motor sports department, in association with tuning specialists Rampage, Owen Developments and Flow Race Engines created the car using a list of new parts, many bespoke to this car.

The result? How does 405bhp, 481Nm or torque, 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and 175mph top speed sound to you? You'd have to spend a lot more money to come close to the FQ-400's straight-line performance, never mind its physics-defying cornering abilities.
