Drivers as young as eight should be allowed to drive the KEE_wii says Korean firm Kia.
Its KEE_wii concept uses a computer game console-style control in place of the usual steering wheel and pedals.
This means the car can be driven from the back seat, which Kia calls its Full Orthopaedic Operating Logic.
It has been developed by the company's Advanced Propulsion Research Institute and Laboratory in New Zealand.
To help younger drivers who might have trouble with visibility, Kia has built in a failsafe called Independent Driver Input Operating Technique that uses radar to avoid accidents.
The KEE_wii control system will be available on all new Kia models in exactly one year's time.
