Last year SEAT's driverless touring car naughtiness was published by a few publications as a serious story, but this year there's less chance of that. This April SEAT is joking that it has developed a hi-tech 'electro reflective' exterior panel finish that mimics its surroundings to blend into the background. According to SEAT, the unique bodywork has been developed in-house by an elite team of technicians at the Spanish manufacturer's Martorell HQ, near Barcelona. The hitherto hush-hush, made up, project's lead engineer, Santos Inocentes, explains: “We started off just fooling around with paint, but soon discovered that electro reflectivity was the future. The technology has been a jealously guarded secret within SEAT but, now, we feel the time is just right to reveal it to the world.”
Funny that SEAT chose to 'reveal' the special paintwork on April 1. However, like the UK spokesperson for the company jokes, it'd be interesting to see what happens when an electro reflective car meets a speed camera. If such a technology actually existed, that is.
