Engineers have long fiddled with the control systems of cars, and games console style systems have been mooted as a genuine solution. It seems this April 1st Kia is claiming that it has actually developed such a system where the traditional driving controls are replaced by a small 'controller' that fits comfortably into two hands. Kia suggests that making steering motions with the small controller will turn the car in whichever direction the driver likes whilst accelerator and brakes are button operated. Dubbed Dynamic On-Road Kinetics - or DORK - it would allow the car to be driven from any seat.
If you did choose to drive using the fictitious DORK system from the back seat Kia suggests it has built a fail-safe security system called Independent Driver Input Operating Technique (or IDIOT) that utilises radar to avoid accidents. 'Revealed' on its KEE concept the KEE_wii dynamic control will apparently be available on all Kias a year from today. Sure it will...
