Nissan extends scrappage offer

Nissan's unique scrappage offer - which offers buyers a minimum £2,000 trade-in price for a car 8-10 years old - officially ended yesterday, but has been extended by three months due to its popularity.

In a ploy to stimulate the growth of British car making, the offer includes any Nissan built in Sunderland, which includes the Micra, Note and Qashqai. It means, for example, that someone with an eight-year-old car can trade it in for a Micra at £5,995. Including the Government scheme, Nissan claims scrappage has resulted in an extra 3,000 Micras being sold over the last few months, and 5,000 Nissans in total.

Paul Wilcox, Nissan UK Managing Director, said: "our £2,000 minimum Trade-in provides what the Government's Scrappage scheme fell short of offering: a real incentive to buy a British built car and a guaranteed trade-in value for owners of eight, nine and ten year old cars."
