If there's been one constant at motor shows in recent years it's that Saab will bring along a smart concept. And the Paris show will be no different, Saab unveiling its 9-X Air to show what a future drop-top from the Scandinavian firm could look like. As with its 9-X Biohybrid sister concept car, the 9-X Air runs on E85 fuel (85% bio-ethanol/15% petrol) to give it projected tailpipe emissions of just 107g/km.
Its green credentials don't mean you're denied performance though, the 9-X Air delivering 200bhp and able to sprint to 62mph in just 8.1 seconds. However, it's the details that really stand out on the 9-X Air: the fabric Canopy Top is a beautifully integrated feature that's so unusual that it is subject to a patent application. Unveiled some 25 years since Saab showed the 900 Convertible the 9-X Air is another concept that the firm says points to future models. We say it should just get on and build it.
