Although we've seen it in concept form already, BMW's new X6 will make its debut at the Detroit Show in production ready guise. Much has already been said about BMW's new car, including the fact that it almost invents a niche for itself - that of a strictly four-seat, four-door SUV, with a swooping coupe-like body shape. BMW calls it a Sports Activity Coupe.
Sensible Europeans are likely to opt for one of the fabulous turbodiesel engines available, but the new twin-turbo petrol-fuelled V8 should go down a storm in the USA. Endowing the large X6 with a 0-62mph time of just 5.4 seconds, nobody will argue about this car's performance credentials and though it may seem a little pointless, we can't help but like it.
