Like Land Rover, Hummer is keen to reduce its average fuel consumption and emissions across its range of off-roaders. That means downsizing and the HX concept at Detroit will preview an all-new model from the most audacious off-road manufacturer in the world.
Hummer released a few designer sketches of the HX and it's plain to see that the company is still adamant that its cars will be used for extreme off-roading. It's possible that the HX (likely to be renamed the H4 when it hits showrooms) will compete against more rudimentary off-roaders, such as Land Rover's Defender and the Jeep Wrangler.
Despite that, Hummer claims that the new car will be a joy to drive on the road and will have a customisable body, though we'll be surprised if the 20-inch alloys and 35-inch off-road tyres make it through to the showroom intact...
