Subaru Forester

Subaru's Forester has always been a bit of an anomaly amongst cars. Some call it an SUV, while others struggle to see it as anything more than an estate car with decent ground clearance and four-wheel drive. Really, it's always been a crossover, but that term is relatively new. There's no doubt though, that the next generation of the Forester (making its world debut in Detroit) moves more towards the SUV side of the balance, in appearance at least.

The new car goes on sale in the US shortly, powered solely by a 2.5-litre 'boxer' engine, but expect most European cars to be sold with Subaru's new turbodiesel boxer engine, as well as lower capacity petrol versions. The Forester has grown significantly, though is still a five-seat car.
