Following hot on the heels of the surprise Bocanegra concept in Geneva, SEAT has today revealed its first details and pictures of the all-new Ibiza five-door hatchback.
It's difficult to underestimate the importance of the Ibiza to the Spanish arm of the vast VW Group, as it has underpinned the company's range since the middle of the eighties and so SEAT has completely redeveloped the model.
Although the new car's distinctive styling will no doubt attract more than a few interested buyers, SEAT also hopes to beat most rivals with a spacious interior and class-leading luggage space - thanks to in increase in the Ibiza's size.
Featuring a slick and modern cabin, a wide range of new technologies will be available in the Ibiza, including the VW Group's excellent seven-speed DSG gearbox, Hill Hold Assist, cornering lights and a USB interface to plug virtually any music device in.
For starters, the engine range is limited to just three petrol options, ranging in power output from 69bhp to 101bhp, but SEAT has confirmed that several TDI options will come on stream in due course, with the potential for both diesel and petrol hot hatch derivatives.
We expect the new Ibiza to hit the showrooms well before the end of the year, when it is thought that an even sportier three-door version will be revealed.
