There isn't usually much action in the way of car movement at the Paris Show, though visitors to the Ferrari stand are likely to be spellbound by the balletic folding mechanism of the new California's retractable hard top.
It's a first for Ferrari, as is the use of a seven-speed twin-clutch transmission and the mounting of the car's V8 engine in the 'front mid-ship' position. Aficionados shouldn't turn their noses up though, as the California promises to be as good at lapping the occasional race circuit as it is at cruising to the south of France for a spot of lunch.
The 4.3-litre engine produces 460bhp, which, combined with a sophisticated traction control system, allows the coupé-cabriolet to hit 62mph from rest in just four seconds. Top speed won't be very much less than 200mph, while Ferrari also makes a big deal about the car's 21.4mpg figure, which is thanks in part to the company's first use of direct injection. The jury is out on the dramatic new styling though.
