It's been a tortuous wait to see Citroen's Gran Turismo, but it's been well worth it. Unquestionably the star of the show, Citroen's amazing supercar concept is an incredible sight. Always known for its avant-garde designs, this Citroen concept raises the bar in Paris. The GT Concept is absolutely stunning.
What's all the fuss about?
Citroen has been teasing us for weeks with sneaky little reveals, but now the GT is available for everyone to feast their eyes on. And what a feast, Citroen outdoing both Ferrari and Lamborghini with its show-stopping concept. The Gran Turismo name gives a clue to the GT's roots: the stunning concept is modelled on a virtual racer developed by Citroen and PolyPhony to feature in the hugely popular Gran Turismo game series. A virtual car turned into reality, Citroen's GT is worth the trip to Paris for alone.
Any new technology?
The GT may be a supercar, but Citroen is taking its environmental responsibilities seriously. The Gran Turismo features a hybrid powertrain boosted by an electric motor. The net result is a lightweight racer with 646bhp, the electric motor giving an overboost function to allow it to sprint to 62mph in 3.6 seconds and reach over 200mph. All with zero tailpipe emissions.
Will it ever see the light of day?
This one is strictly in the realms of fantasy, as Citroen is unlikely to be adding a supercar to its model portfolio in the foreseeable future. It will exist in digital form on the Gran Turismo game though, so if you like the idea of a 200mph Citroen supercar in your virtual garage, plug in your Playstation and enjoy.
