There's nothing offensive about the Hyundai i10, but nor is there anything exceptional, so how cheerful it makes you depends on your priority list. Badge appeal is virtually on the floor (because no matter how many times people call the Hyundai Coupé the 'Korean Ferrari', it isn't), but that means it appeals to people who eschew vanity in favour of practicalities like running costs, space and user friendliness. So let's look at those things.
The i10 is cheap, for sure, with a 1.2 Classic available for under seven grand, and for that you'll get air conditioning, electric windows and five doors. It's not massive, but as diminutive city dwellers go it isn't at all bad inside. Quality's ok, and, most pertinent to this list, it'll return 56.5mpg and only emits 119g/km of the greenhouse gas. It's slow though, really slow, but you can't have everything.
