It might be fast, but it sure isn't pretty; Gumpert's new Speed follows its Apollo relatives in offering brutish pace and looks to go with it. There have been some design tweaks with this new model, but it's got little to do with form and everything to do with going faster. Much faster.
What's all the fuss about?
The Apollo Speed's 800bhp and lightweight construction combined allow it to record some quite breathtaking performance statistics. It's not just the 223mph capability that impresses but also its ability to reach 124mph in less than nine seconds from standstill. That's fearsomely fast.
Any new technology?
The Apollo Speed is honed to the maximum to allow it to achieve its incredible performance statistics. Much of the Speed's development has been in the wind tunnel, resulting in an entirely flat underside and enclosed wheel covers to allow it to cut though the air as efficiently as possible. Its strong but light carbon monocoque can be trimmed in either leather or Alcantara to the customer's wishes, the fixed seats requiring moving pedals to allow drivers of different heights.
When can I buy one?
The Apollo Speed is available to order now for those who like their supercars to be all about performance and less about looks.
