Peugeot is showing its new 3008 at the Geneva motor show, the chunky crossover a new direction for the French firm. Combining traditional hatchback with SUV and MPV the 3008 is an odd mix wearing an odd face.
What's all the fuss about?
From every angle but the front the 3008 is a handsome machine. Around the nose the massive grille looks a touch ungainly, though look past that and the 3008 is a useful addition to the Peugeot line-up. With SUV and MPV levels of practicality and a massive glazed area bathing the interior in light the 3008 offers an airy, spacious driving environment and some neat touches like a split rear tailgate and the availability of an optional head-up display unit incorporating a Distance Alert system.
Anything that stands out?
The 3008s in Geneva are all conventionally powered but Peugeot is promising that a hybrid version will arrive soon, it also bringing with it four-wheel drive capability.
When can I buy one?
UK sales of the 3008 will commence at the end of 2009, prices and exact specifications of UK models being confirmed nearer its on-sale date.
