BMW's all-new flagship luxury saloon is to be launched later this year.
The new 7 Series is larger than the outgoing car, though its styling has been toned down slightly to appeal to a wider audience.
The car it replaces has long been criticised for its looks, but it has been the most successful 7 Series BMW ever produced.
Its replacement should build on that success, BMW adding all its latest technology to the new luxury saloon.
That means the new car will feature Active Steering, night vision, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and an overhauled version of BMW's iDrive interface.
New engines powering it will include the turbocharged V8 petrol and diesel units from the X6.
Even with V8 power the 7 Series should return respectable fuel economy and emissions figures, thanks to BMW's EfficientDynamics system.
EfficientDynamics works by scavenging energy usually wasted by braking, and by limiting draw from the engine by use of smart alternators and auxiliary equipment.
It should ensure that the 7 Series is one of the cleanest vehicles in its class, making it the perfect choice for environmentally conscious CEOs and MDs.
