You might not be surprised to hear that sunglasses, keys and CDs top the list of common items left behind in hire cars and vans.
But Europcar has revealed a list of more unusual items that forgetful owners have left in hire cars when returning them.
With a fleet of over 215,000 vehicles it's hardly surprising that Europcar collects some odd items, but some are more bizarre than others.
Among the odd finds in Europcar's rental cars is a false leg in Liverpool, it perhaps missing the stocking that was found in a car in Hull.
Another customer in Hull also managed to leave a strange passenger in the shape of a mannequin; perhaps its conversation wasn't so great.
Other oddities include furry handcuffs, a pair of black ladies pants and even a car filled with flowers.
A pair of white ladies shoes nearly caused a domestic when they were found under the passenger seat of a returned hire car, red-faced staff having to explain to a customers' wife that they must have been left by a previous hirer when she said they weren't hers.
Thankfully the lady saw the funny side, Catriona Lougher of Europcar commenting, “The size and variety of Europcar's fleet obviously attracts customers from all walks of life, judging by the bizarre objects staff find left in vehicles.”
However Lougher added, “Europcar staff are always professional and understanding, going the extra mile to try and reunite customers with their lost property.”
