Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG
It seems to be the year of the performance car, despite so much political focus on the environment. The new
Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been received well, no longer living in the shadow of the
BMW 3 Series in terms of driving dynamics, but Mercedes will go one further in Frankfurt with the debut of its new C 63 AMG.
In terms of raw figures, the C 63 AMG has BMW's M3 and
Audi's RS4 comprehensively licked. Thanks to shoehorning a massive 6.2-litre V8 under the bonnet, the rear tyres have to contend with 451bhp and 443lb.ft of torque.
Despite the limitations of the laws of physics, Mercedes claims a 0-62mph time of just 4.5 seconds and the party poopers stop the fun at 155mph...
Numbers alone are unlikely to convey how rapid the new AMG car is though.
As with all proper AMG models, the C-Class has been given a suitably aggressive makeover, so the C 63 has bumps and bulges in all the right places, extra cooling vents, larger wheels and brakes and the obligatory quad exhausts. Should be an exciting piece of kit to drive too.
