New Hyundai i20 debuts in Paris

Hyundai will reveal its new i20 supermini this October at the Paris motor show.

The new car joins Hyundai's growing 'i' range, slotting into the range between the i30 family hatch and i10 city car.

Designed in Europe at Hyundai's Russelsheim design centre, the i20 shares styling details with its i-badged relatives.

Longer than the Getz, which it replaces, the new i20 will offer more interior space and greater versatility in its cabin.

Like all Hyundais the i20 promises to be a value-packed package, it certain to come packed with standard equipment and feature Hyundai's excellent warranty package.

Underlining how important green models are Hyundai will reveal the i20 i-blue concept alongside its new production car featuring a number of modifications over the standard car to improve the environmental performance of the i20 even further.

Modifications include full length underfloor covers to improve air flow, a 15mm drop in ride height and changes to the front and rear aerodynamics.

The 1.4-litre turbodiesel engine is also mated to a six-speed manual gearbox instead of the five-speed unit on the regular i20 to further help economy and emissions.

All the modifications on the i-blue concept enable it to record a combined consumption figure of 68mpg and CO2 emissions of 99g/km.

The standard i20 will be in showrooms soon, the green i-blue concept model expected to be offered as a production model shortly after.
