Ford launches stylish compact MPV

With less than two weeks to go before the doors open to the Frankfurt Show, Ford has released the first official photographs and details of its new compact MPV, the C-MAX.

The car in the images shares its distinctive paint colour with Ford's iosisMAX concept car, but the production ready model has more in common with the larger S-MAX - and even the Fiesta - than it does with the Geneva show car. However, it's still a good looking MPV.

The C-MAX is built on a new floorpan that is set to underpin the next generation Ford Focus and Kuga and it will also mark the arrival of Ford's EcoBoost engines in Europe. These combine direct petrol injection with turbocharging in a bid to improve both performance and economy.

It's likely that Ford will introduce a new seven-seat version of the C-MAX in 2010.
