SEAT Ibiza, Spanish Polo

VW's Polo is available in more than just the one flavour, and the SEAT Ibiza is the Spanish version of the popular VW. Underneath its sharp looks are much the same mechanicals as the German car, but with a Spanish twist. There's a Czech one too, if you fancy a Skoda Fabia, but the SEAT wins here simply because it's one of the best looking superminis money can buy. Pick the three-door version for guaranteed head-turning looks, as it's a particularly striking looker.

The five-door isn't an ugly sister by any means; either model is sure to attract more admiring glances than any other supermini on sale. There's more than just style too, with those VW underpinnings giving the SEAT real substance, the interior also classily finished and neatly styled. Best of the bunch are the diesels, which provide big economy combined with excellent performance, the Ecomotive model boasting a combined fuel consumption figure of 76.3mpg and CO2 emissions of just 98g/km. Green and stylish? That's a tough call, but one SEAT manages to achieve.
