Volkswagen Polo, Miniature Golf

Rightly or wrongly the VW Polo has, through the years, become something of a darling among the chattering classes. The latest one is the first to really feel like it's a cut above though, with mini Golf looks and an interior that's worthy of a premium badge. It's a fine looking car that's actually bigger than the earliest Golfs - perfectly illustrating the growth of the supermini. With that increase in scale comes a new level of class, the Polo feeling way more expensive than it actually is.

Whether it's the hushed refinement, supportive seats or just the quality fit and finish to the interior trim and dash, the Polo is the choice for those supermini drivers who like the finest things in life. It's never been the most exciting drive in its class - the Ford eclipsing it for enjoyment behind the wheel - but for sheer feel-good factor and quality look and feel - inside and out - there's nothing to beat it. With an extensive engine line-up there's plenty of choice too, and although it'll cost you a bit more to buy, when you come to sell it'll be worth more too.
