Barmy Kia concepts preview new crossover

Kia took the covers off of three new concept cars at the Geneva show. All three are variations on a theme and offer sporty, off-road and city chic versions called Burner, Searcher and Diva respectively.

The Burner sits lower to the ground on large alloy wheels and has a sporty body kit to give it hot hatch attitude.

The Searcher has raised suspension to give it more ground clearance when driving off-road.

This model also comes with roof bars and chunkier front and rear bumpers to prevent rocks from bashing the bodywork.

The Diva is aimed at stylish women around town and has some gold jewellery of its own in the 19-inch alloy wheels and side rubbing strips.

Elements from all three concepts will make it into the production version of the Soul, which goes on sale next summer in the UK.

Kia is yet to confirm which engine will be used in the production Soul, but it's likely there will be a 1.4-litre petrol model and the choice of manual or automatic transmissions.

Expect a price tag of around £10,000 and Kia is aiming its new supermini at the likes of the MINI and Fiat 500.
