Vauxhall posts record sales

If recent rumours were to be believed, under fire car giant GM was about to dispense with Vauxhall for good - reports denied by the maker. And as if to hammer home exactly why that isn't the case, Vauxhall has just announced that, for the second time in three months, the brand is the biggest seller in the UK - shifting almost 10,000 motors.

No less than four griffin-fronted models featured in February's top ten sales chart: the Insignia, Astra, Zafira and Corsa - with the last of those racking up 2,856 sales of a grand total of 9,372. The Insignia found 1,247 homes, though Vauxhall still has a 15,000-strong Insignia order book to work through.

Vauxhall Marketing Director Andy Gilson said: "This is proof that the Vauxhall brand is as strong as ever in the British car market, and we're looking forward to a busy March." No doubt parent GM will be taking notes.
