Nissan's Sunderland facility is an automotive jewel for manufacturing, the plant in the North East turning out some of Nissan's most impressive models. Nissan is taking part in the government's scrappage plan and also offering minimum trade-in prices of £2,000 for 8-10 year-old cars if your banger isn't quite old enough to qualify for the government scheme. Doing its bit for Britain the scheme is only offered on Nissan's Sunderland built models, but that means the Micra, Note, Qashqai and Qashqai+2 are all included, giving you a wide range of models to suit your specific needs.
We'd probably go for the Note for our banger-provided discount, the diminutive machine driving like a car in the class above and offering masses of space. It really is a supermini-sized genuine family car. With prices starting at just under £10,000 before the scrappage incentive that's a lot of car for not a lot of money. If spending as little as possible is your real motivation though how about a Micra for under £6,000?
