Diesel Subarus introduced in Paris

Subaru will show two new diesel models at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The Japanese firm's acclaimed diesel boxer engine will now feature in the Impreza and Forester ranges, it previously only available in Subaru's Legacy model.

When fitted to the Forester the 2.0-litre engine achieves impressive economy and emissions, the official figures quoted at 44.8mpg and 167g/km of CO2.

The engine develops 145bhp and 258lb.ft of torque in the Forester and 148bhp and 258lb.ft in the Impreza.

Subaru has revised the engine for its new installations, adding a new six-speed manual transmission and a closed-type particulate filter.

The new diesels will be joined on Subaru's stand by some future-looking electric models and a 50th anniversary retrospective display showing Subaru's original 360 mini-car.
