Maserati is focussing on capitalising on the success of the Quattroporte executive sports saloon by launching two new versions of the car. Not one but two new variants of Maserati's acclaimed Quattroporte were shown in Frankfurt offering potential buyers cars more honed to their needs. The two new cars labelled Executive GT and Sport GT follow exactly two years after the original Quattroporte that was first shown here in Frankfurt in 2003.
The Quattroporte always offered a Jekyll and Hyde personality; luxurious executive saloon on one hand, involving and exciting sports saloon on the other. The two new models further exaggerate these two personality traits. The Executive GT and Sports GT offering more focused versions of both facets.
The Executive GT will be available in its own blend of colours and finishes and is further differentiated by chrome grilles on the front and the flanks, 9-spoke 19-inch polished alloy wheels and an external identification plate. Internally passenger will enjoy the benefits of comfort packs and such things as a wood or titanium table in the rear compartment.
The Sport GT features carbon fibre interior trim and a sports steering wheel and handbrake cover, as well as aluminium pedals. The exterior is marked by 20-inch alloy wheels and, again, an identification plate. Mechanically the car features a revised gearbox with faster shifts, a more sporting exhaust system and more sports biased settings for the electronic suspension.
The Quattroporte, Maserati's flagship, has enjoyed tremendous sales success globally and, along with the GT coupe, has put the trident badge back into the minds of car buyers in the executive and sports car niches. The marque's reputation for quality and exclusivity continues to strengthen with additional sales not tainting the rarity factor that owners enjoy so much.
