Now that Suzuki's Grand Vitara has evolved into a credible SUV, the company wants to get as much publicity as possible for its roll-out, especially in the lucrative North American market. To that end, Suzuki's US arm has come up with a new line-up of concepts based on the Grand Vitara, exploring accessories Suzuki customers could potentially buy for their cars.

The concepts include the 'Blizzard' for snow sports enthusiasts, the 'Wave' for lake sports aficionados and the 'Sea' for, you guessed it, surfers. In Detroit, the fourth version, called the 'Dune', was displayed on the Suzuki stand alongside the new Grand Vitara. On the show stand, the 'Lightning Yellow' Dune was hooked up to a trailer carrying two motocross bikes and a quad all in matching paintwork.

If you look closely, the regular Grand Vitara lurks under the Dune's extensive changes that include new cutaway bumpers and pronounced wheelarches making way for the huge off-road tyres suitable for heavy mud or sand. There is a heavy-duty winch at the front, spotlights and a chunky load-carrying roof rack on top and raised exhausts at the rear that allow wading through deep water, as well as doing a good job of imitating a motorcycle. We don't expect the Dune to go into production, but it really would not be all that difficult for an off-roading enthusiast to do the same to their new Grand Vitara.
