No, the MINI is not exactly rare, but there are so many customisation and colour options that you are bound to find one that suits your needs. The second-generation of the BMW-owned MINI does not look very different to the previous car, but it is available in even more colours. One of our favourites is the Laser Blue with a white roof, bonnet stripes, mirrors and optional 18-inch alloys. Though you've got to smile at the Mellow Yellow name for the far from mellow hue also available.
Although the MINI is great to drive and in Cooper S guise is rather quick, what you're looking for here is visual impact and that's one of the MINI's strengths against most other cars in the same price bracket. And yet it is not ostentatious, so you'd be happy to park your MINI just about anywhere without fear of wanton vandalism.
