Dacia used the Geneva show to launch its new Sandero small hatch to the world.
The Sandero will be the Romanian firm's first car to be sold in the UK, starting in 2009.
The Sandero is based on Renault's Clio and is one of the largest superminis to be built.
It uses Renault's 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol engines, as well as its French parent company's fine 1.5-litre turbodiesel in 68- and 86bhp forms.
The Sandero is aimed at the budget end of the market and is expected to have a starting price of just £6,500 when it reaches UK showroom early in 2009.
All models will have driver and passenger airbags, while better equipped versions will have four airbags.
The Sandero will come with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty and Renault says it has worked very hard with the Dacia engineers to ensure quality and reliability are up to the standards Western European buyers expect.
