The Tata Nano is set to be the world's cheapest new car when it goes on sale in India for £1,500 later this year
The Nano will not be sold in Europe, but that didn't stop Tata from bringing its hugely important small car to the Geneva show.
European emissions and safety regulations would make it too expensive to develop the Nano for Euro buyers.
However, Tata brought the car because it said Geneva is 'emotionally the place where we wanted to launch our first car.'
The other reason Tata was present at the Geneva show was to finalise the deal to buy Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford.
Ford insiders say the deal is very close to completion and an announcement is expected within the next week to confirm the sale.
