Nissan has unveiled a prototype car featuring its latest collision prevention technology.

The car, which uses a number of sensors to scan the area around it, should be almost impossible to crash.

Side impacts when changing lanes are prevented by sensors detecting cars approaching and warning the driver, yaw controllers braking individual wheels to help prevent a possible collision.

Similarly, the driver is informed of any hazards by an alarm when reversing, the Back-up Collision Prevention applying the brakes if necessary to avoid crashing.

Combined with Nissan's Lane Departure System and Distance Control Assist Nissan has extended its so-called 'safety shield' around the vehicle and created a prototype that is almost impossible to crash.

A prototype system at present some of the features are already offered on Nissan's product range, the entire system likely to be in production within the next few years.
