Fleet News and financial consultants Grant Thornton asked 50 of Britain's biggest car leasing companies about the reliability of the 840,000 vehicles they operated and the result, for the second year in a row, is that the BMW Group came out as the most reliable car manufacturer - with Honda in second place.
The Honda Civic was actually voted as the most reliable individual car, and even though the Honda Jazz and Accord made it into the top four, BMW stole the manufacturer crown, with the 3 Series second overall, the 5 Series in fifth spot and the MINI in eighth.
BMW's main rivals, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, only managed third and sixth spot on the manufacturers' list respectively, while only one model from each featured on the top ten list of cars.
Stephen Briers, Editor of Fleet News, said: "This is one of the largest vehicle reliability surveys of its kind and it reviews a market where cars are subjected to some of the most testing conditions they will ever face on the road. As a result, being listed anywhere in this table is a major achievement."
This latest announcement comes as BMW was named the 'Most sustainable car company in the world' for the fifth year in a row in the latest Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
