Ferrari puts brakes on celebration

Ferrari has never been slow to make the most of its Formula One successes, but when it announced it was putting the brakes on for 2008 the whole of the Bologna Show froze. Then Ferrari's Amedeo Felisa announced that all Ferrari road cars in 2008 will have carbon ceramic brakes as standard to mark winning the driver's and constructor's titles in the 2007 F1 season.

Carbon ceramic brakes were first introduced on the Enzo more than five years ago and now they will be fitted to all models throughout 2008. Customers have been assured that this is a present from Ferrari and the price of its road cars will not increase to cover the expense of the super-effective brakes.

Ferrari says that a large number of customers already order carbon ceramic brakes, so the 2008 celebration is more of a standardisation of the technical specification. Ferrari wouldn't confirm if the company would be the first in the world to switch all of its cars to carbon ceramic brakes as standard.
