Aston Martin is not only going for a clean sweep of racers, offering a car in every category of GT endurance racing, it's also going for a clean fuel. The new Vantage GT2 racer rounds off Aston's racing range and it will be able to run on environmentally friendly E85 bio-ethanol fuel.
The Vantage GT2 uses the same basic V8 engine as the N24 model, but with modifications to run on the bio-fuel. Using the cleaner fuel allows the GT2 to compete in a wider range of race series, including the American Le Mans Series.
Aston has already developed a bio-ethanol engine for its DBRS9 racer and this experience has been used to full effect in the Vantage GT2. Robin Brundle is Aston Martin Racing's managing director and he says: "The Vantage GT2 completes our portfolio for 2008 with competitive cars in every category."
The British firm now offers racing cars to customers for GT1 with the DBR9, in GT3 with the DBRS9, and the Vantage N24 is eligible in the GT4 category, while the Vantage GT2 will compete in its namesake GT2 class.
