Fans of computer racing games now have the chance to race in real life with a competition from Nissan and Playstation.

The GT Academy is an eight month search to find two drivers to compete in a Nissan 350Z at the 2009 Dubai 24 Hour endurance race.

To start with, contenders will face an elimination process using an online GT5 Prologue tournament using the Playstation.

The lucky winners of that round will then go through further selection processes to establish how suitable and able they are as racing drivers.

David Reeves, President of Sony Europe, said: 'The GT Academy brings the real and virtual worlds of motor racing together and is the ultimate test to see if virtual drivers have what it takes to race in a competitive environment where there isn't the option to play again.'

The GT Academy goes live at the end of May and entrants must register online via their PS3 Playstations.
