After a Sunbeam Alpine Series II and Bentley Sports Tourer in Dr No and From Russia with Love, Bond's most famous car made its first appearance on screen in the 1964 film Goldfinger. The Aston Martin DB5 is the Bond car most people remember, the classic DB5 also making a brief appearance in both Thunderball and more recently Goldeneye - where a bit of Hollywood artistic licence saw it dice with a Ferrari 355 GTS on an Alpine road.
The first Bond car to really feature the might of Q department's thinking meant Bond had the ability to produce an oil slick or smokescreen, shoot from indicator-light machine guns, deflect attacks thanks to a bullet proof screen and remove undesirable passengers via an ejector seat. Add revolving number plates and it is easy to see why everyone remembers this Bond car so fondly. At the same time, the Aston is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars Bond has driven. It's little wonder the DB5 is one of the most famous cars to feature alongside the secret agent.
