Fiat will launch a new 'Eco' diesel engine when it launches the new 1.6-litre turbodiesel in the Bravo range.
The new engine comes in 105- and 120bhp forms and the Eco model is tuned to give 62.7mpg, which is 5.1mpg better than the standard version.
The Eco model also lowers carbon dioxide emissions to 119g/km compared to the standard model's 129g/km and that means the Bravo Eco qualifies for lower rate road tax in the UK.
If you choose the 120bhp version, it provides identical economy and emissions to the standard 105bhp model of 57.6mpg and 129g/km CO2 emissions.
The Bravo 1.6 Multijet with the new turbodiesel in all three guises comes to the UK in the early summer and the Eco model is expected to command a £300 premium over the standard 105bhp model.
