Mercedes-Benz E 250 CDI Coupé, Fuel-sipping Class

Mercedes might not have a particularly impressive history at Le Mans, but its latest E-Class Coupé would be a particularly nice way to arrive in France. The E 250 CDI BlueEfficiency would be the engine of choice to do so too, its miserly 55.4mpg and 66-litre fuel tank giving the E-Class Coupé the ability to squeeze over 800 miles out of a tank of fuel. That's not just enough to get you to Le Mans and back but also for about 30 laps of the 8.4-mile circuit while you're there. You might cause something of a roadblock, as even the E-Class Coupé's slippery shape won't allow it to keep up with the 200mph machines on the Mulsanne straight.

What it will do is get you there in serious comfort, the E-Class Coupé exhibiting all the refinement of its saloon sibling. You'll be in an exclusive club too as it's only been on sale for a few weeks, meaning you'll turn heads among all the exotica on the way through northern France. Lots of space in the back and boot mean it's a capacious two-door, meaning you'll have plenty of room for all your camping gear. Actually, if you're arriving in this you might want to stop at a chateau somewhere nearby and commute into the race - you'll have more than enough fuel to do so...
