211mph Mercedes S-Class revealed

You're looking at what is claimed to be the 'world's fastest and most powerful luxury sedan'. It's called the SV12 R and it's made by Brabus, a German firm specialising in the tuning of Mercedes-Benz models.

Although Brabus has given the exterior of the S-Class a mild makeover, it's still identifiable as the company's range-topper. It's all change under the bonnet though. Brabus has taken the S 600's 5.5-litre V12 and increased capacity to 6.3-litres, fitted larger turbochargers and a myriad of other enhancements to produce the monster peak power figure of 740bhp.

Maximum torque is perhaps more impressive, at 995lb.ft, which assists the large four-door with its incredible 4.0-second 0-100km/h time. While the accelerative force is certain to grab any passenger's attention, it's the top speed of 211mph that lends this S-Class its 'world's fastest' tag.

The SV12 R actually represents a whole host of S-Class upgrades available to well-heeled customers, with other items including LED lights in the side sills to illuminate the ground, massive brakes and a customised interior also on the options list. Prices are expected to be announced at the Frankfurt Show on September 15th.
