A new face headlines the raft of changes that make up Volvo's C30 mid-life facelift, due to make its world debut at this month's Frankfurt Motor Show, with the emphasis on more extrovert styling and customisation.
Larger headlights are complemented by new wings and bonnet at the front, while the air intakes have been reshaped to align the C30 with other newer models in the Volvo line-up. Additionally, the Volvo badge in the front grille is larger.
Buyers of the C30 may also specify a new styling kit that includes aluminium-look finishes to the fog lamp surrounds and lower air intake at the front, as well as to the side sills and a section of the rear bumper. D5 and T5 variants will be differentiated further by the addition of two large-bore exhaust outlets.
More exterior colour options will be offered, a theme that continues to the cockpit of the C30, where a new 'Espresso/Blond' theme mixes a dark brown upper section with a lighter grey/beige colour used for the lower part of the cabin. Bright hues are available for the seat fabrics, including 'Cranberry' leather upholstery.
Keener drivers will be glad to hear there's a new Sport chassis option. Along with a lower ride height, the dampers, springs and anti-roll bars have been stiffened up, while a quicker steering rack is also included. Customers can have the Sport chassis fitted to any of the C30 models other than the 1.6D DRIVe version with Start/Stop.
As before, the 1.6D DRIVe model is available with and without Start/Stop, while there are a further two diesel engine options and three petrol choices.
Full pricing and specification will be announced early in 2010, when the new C30 will go on sale.
